Mark Tracey
Mark Tracey has over 30 years of healthcare industry experience gained at Paribas Limited (1987-1991) and at Goldman Sachs (1992-2008) where he was Co-Head of Global Healthcare Equity Research. In December 2006 he became an Advisory Director in Healthcare Investment Banking at GS before leaving to found Arkle Associates in December 2008.
At GS, Mark worked on a number of major transactions including the mergers of Aventis, AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Pharmacia & Upjohn and Roche-Chugai, and IPOs of Biomerieux, Ipsen, Lundbeck and Merck KGaA.
Mark has a BA Honours degree in Business Studies from Portsmouth Polytechnic. He is married with two young daughters and lives in West Sussex. His interests includes horses, fine wine, running, microfinance/charities and Chelsea FC.
John Murphy, PhD
John Murphy joined Arkle Associates as joint partner in April 2009. John has over 30 years of healthcare industry experience, initially gained working in Drug Discovery at SmithKline Beecham. He subsequently worked for 15 years as a Healthcare investment analyst, the majority of which was spent at Goldman Sachs (1995-2009) where he was Co-Head of the European Healthcare Business Unit.
Transactions that John worked on during his time as an investment analyst include the merger of Hoechst and Rhone-Poulenc to create Aventis and the IPOs of Ipsen, Lundbeck and Merck KGaA. He also regularly attended the key international scientific conferences.
John has a BSc Honours degree in Applied Biology from Hatfield Polytechnic and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of York. He is married with two teenage children and lives in Hertfordshire. His interests include golf, food and wine, watching sport and Tottenham Hotspur FC.
